If you're one of those people who thinks eating too much chocolate is bad for you, you've probably just been eating the wrong kind. In truth, chocolate in its purest form has many beneficial properties that can help improve your health, make you smarter, and even give you beautiful, clear skin. Where does chocolate come from?

Chocolate is derived from the seeds of the cacao tree, most of which are grown in Africa. A process of harvesting, fermentation, roasting and grinding these seeds takes place to produce a paste before different processes are used to create various kinds of chocolate. This can range from cocoa powder, chocolate bars to chocolate syrup of different intensities and purity.

Chocolate is good for your health

Chocolate contains things like flavanols, which contain antioxidants that are reduce cell damage that could cause heart disease. Flavanols also reduce inflammation and blood pressure, all characteristics that help improve vascular function. The theobromine in chocolate also helps your oral health by hardening the enamel on your teeth, thus lowering your risk of getting cavities (if you are also maintaining good hygiene!).



Chocolate is good for your brain

Apparently, researchers at Johns Hopkins University have discovered that the epicatechin found in chocolate actually makes you smarter. In studies, this compound reduced the brain damage in mice who had suffered strokes. So hopefully it helps boost the strength of human brains as well.

As previously mentioned, the antioxidants within chocolate help combat the free radicals in your around your body that breaks down cells. Preventing such cell damage not only protects your insides, but keeps your skin looking young as it prevents your skin from aging too quickly.

What kind of chocolate is best for you?

According to the Mayo Clinic, you should consume chocolate that is at least 65 percent cocoa or higher. The problem with many kinds of chocolate on the market is that they are filled with other additives such as flavoring and sugar, which means they don't contain much of the beneficial properties of pure chocolate at all, and in fact contain more ingredients that are actually harmful for the body. So lay off the truffles and milk chocolate and stick to the dark stuff.

The Mayo Clinic recommends sticking to about 3 ounces (85 grams) of dark chocolate daily. Although purer chocolate has its benefits, don't overdo it! A daily amount of 3 ounces of dark chocolate equals roughly 450 calories.

I just wanted to use the post to remind everyone that there are many different ways to keep things organized, and there is no one right way to do it. You certainly don't always have to go out and buy special containers or organizers to bring a little order to your life.

The ways I mentioned previously are also great ideas to organize SD cards. So the next time you want to organize your things, don't just run out to buy something to organize your things with; in the process adding more clutter to your home. Think about what you already have laying around that you could use to tidy up with instead.

Use Baking Soda as a Natural Mouthwash
I previously wrote a post on how to use white vinegar as a natural mouth wash, but did you know you can use baking soda as a mouthwash as well? Like white vinegar, baking soda can kill the germs in your mouth, eliminating traces of bad breath, as well as keep your teeth pearly white.

You'll Need:

- baking soda
- distilled water
- cloves, mint leaves or peppermint (optional)

Directions:

1. Add one teaspoon of baking soda to an 8 oz. glass of distilled water. Add some cloves, mint leaves or peppermint to the mixture if you'd like a little bit of flavor.
2. Swish and gargle this solution in your mouth as you would any other mouthwash, ideally for at least a minute.
3. Spit and rinse thoroughly, then you're done!

Use Baking Soda as a Natural MouthwashI loathe using commercial products that are laden with other chemicals and additives if I can help it, and this is a very simple and economical way of refreshing your breath. An added plus is that the alkaline nature of baking soda also helps balance the pH levels in your mouth after you've eaten highly acidic or sweet foods.

Salubrious Selection: The Body Shop All-In-One Concealer
The Body Shop's All-In-One Concealer is one of my new must-haves for my makeup bag. I've always preferred stick concealers as it gives me better control over covering blemish spots, but stick concealers are often difficult to blend and end up feeling rather cakey on the skin; I haven't had this problem with the All-In-One Concealer though. It has a light, creamy consistency that has so far blended quite well with other makeup so it doesn't look like I have these random highlighted spots all over my face.



One of my favorite things about this product (besides the fact that The Body Shop is cruelty-free) is probably its ability to moisturize my skin while also concealing blemishes. According to the label, it contains vitamin E and marula oil, so it helps repair the skin to some degree while doing its job as a concealer. However, the coverage is rather light, so I don't think this is the concealer for those who are looking for heavy or buildable coverage.

Salubrious Selection: The Body Shop All-In-One ConcealerThe color selection is also rather sparse. I was lucky enough to find a shade that almost exactly matched my skin tone. In fact, I can barely see it on my skin even before blending. However, for those on the very light or dark ends of the skin color spectrum, they may not be able to find a color in this product line that will match their skin tone.

I imagine the translucent white center is the moisturizing element
of the concealer.
All in all, I recommend this product for those who are looking for light coverage for under eye circles or the occasional blemish. It feels nonexistent on the skin and is very convenient to carry around in a small makeup bag or purse.
